What we need is immigration reform. I think most people are okay with deporting violent criminals, but are opposed to or are at least uncomfortable with deporting people who are working, paying taxes, and are contributing to society. There is a whole grey area between those two, but I think most people don't want rapists and murderers free in their neighborhoods, regardless of immigration status. The law needs to change so that it is more realistic and fair.
