I have noticed a trend. People on the left tend to surround themselves with like-minded people, which, by itself is not a problem. Everybody tries to do that. But when they block anyone with an opposing viewpoint, they not only block opposing perspectives, they also block themselves from influencing others. This could be a problem as the left's perspective becomes less and less visible and influential to the masses.

Probably. They are already doing that. They are afraid and they have reasons to be afraid. But the problem is that they can't handle any criticism whatsoever, so they will even attack allies, which further alienates people and isolates them.

For example, if you tell them how to make their situation better and how to protect themselves, they don't want to listen since it is perceived as criticism. They don't even realize they are being screwed over by their own favorite politicians.

I had one guy who said "I stopped reading after...." and then called me a name.

That explains why they are losing right there. If they can't handle reality, then they can't be effective when opposing bad policies and dealing with real life problems.

I think that in the end, people like me are going to have to protect them even though they are sabotaging themselves. They may scream and shout, but calling people names is not going to be enough to protect them from the right. So some of us with thicker skin will have to stand up for them, even if they call us names because they are afraid of outsiders.
