American politics has been pretty nasty from the start, but when you add the social media element to it, it gets really toxic. Imagine having an argument by hand-writing and mailing letters to your local newspaper instead of spewing the first thought that comes to mind after 10 seconds of outrage. I actually remember writing letters to the editor back in the day.
